"A news story should be like a mini skirt on a pretty woman. Long enough to cover the subject but short enough to be interesting." – Anonymous
Journalism is a highly competitive field, traditionally dominated by men. My name is Kelly Dickey and I am a highly inquisitive college student trying to make it as a reporter.
Entering the professional workforce for the first time, this blog is from the perspective of a twenty-something female newbie. Because of that, Mini Skirt Journalism aims to examine the status of women in journalism, how the industry is changing and my personal journey.
My career is in its infancy, and in many ways, so is journalism. How audiences receive information is evolving and my schooling came at a time where media are trying to figure out the best way to relay news.
My viewpoints will change as time goes on and the environment changes but what I write will be my analysis in the moment.
The evolution of journalism is a story that will need constant updates.
